Internet Security for your Computer
The Holidays are historically a very active time for scammers on the Internet. This is a good time
to remind everyone to update and review their computer security to protect against the 'bad stuff' that
can infect and slow down your personal computer. New Versions of our favorite Security programs
have recently been released. I though this would be a good time to post SunFields' current thoughts
on this subject.
Everyone should have at least basic protection installed on their computer, unless you never
connect to the Internet. (Yeah right! What fun would that be...?) With all the malware and nasty
programs 'out there' it is our personal responsibility to protect our own computers so we do NOT
contribute to the already out of control problems.
Basic protection is anti-virus and, now-a-days in my opinion, anti-spyware programs. These are
the FREE versions we have been using since they first became available to home users:
AVG 9.0 Free - Anti-virus and basic Anti-spy
Avast Anti-virus and Anti-spy
Remember that only ONE Anti-virus application should be installed on your computer
CCleaner – Removes 'Clutter' from your Hard Drive
A-squared – Spyware & Malware Removal Tool
SpywareBlaster - Spyware Blocker
Diskeeper Lite – Defrag and Optimize your Hard Drive
Be sure to read the instructions before installing. The above programs are for Windows 2000,
XP, Vista and Windows 7. We suggest that you update and scan frequently.
